About
The Birmingham Architectural Association
Founded in 1874, represents architects, built environment professionals and creatives in the local area. The BAA is the local branch of RIBA, ran by a hardworking committee, composed of people from practices and universities across the city.
Our aim is to promote, support and share knowledge through and for our community. Committee members champion their interests and issues through workshops, events, publications and their contribution to local and national design boards.
We hold events in unique venues, with fantastic local, independent caterers and have collaborated with some of the most influential local and international architects, designers and industry leaders.
The BAA offers events for everyone; ranging from parties of 400 people, workshops and 'Table Talks' led by renowned architects in their own designs, to more intimate architectural walking tours of 10-20 people.
Compassion and inclusivity are at the core of our work; every year we celebrate diversity and inclusivity through Pride, disability awareness, diversity talks and our ‘Women in Architecture’ series.
Since the beginning of the global pandemic, the BAA has shared resources for working from home and made a total donation of £6500 to the Architects Benevolent Society, as well as £1000 to the Stephen Lawrence Trust in 2020 so that they can both continue their great work supporting the architectural community and their families.
Lastly, thanks to our sponsors, remember that every event the BAA holds is and shall always be free to attend.
