“Home provides physical and psychological sanctuary. It has been a guardian of identity.” (De Botton, 2006: 11).
Building on the success of the 2018 & 2019 Best of Birmingham | Calling All Creatives competition, the Birmingham Architectural Association (BAA) is delighted to announce their design competition is accepting 2020 entries.
In light of the recent and growing outbreak of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the UK, the BAA has decided to take a responsible approach and move our upcoming Calling all Creatives onto a digital platform.
The show will be a creative platform to showcase and celebrate creative work from across the UK. We aim to create an inclusive platform to bring creatives together. We will showcase creative design work with a strong connection to “Home”.
We welcome entries from students, professionals, families and groups. We will be hosting the exhibition online and awarding the very first Birmingham Architectural Creative Designer Award to the category winners.
With the limitations we all face at this time, we encourage you to submit your work electronically in a suitable format to be exhibited online i.e. photograph of your model or photograph/scan of your drawing or painting.
Family and friends
Entries can be submitted by an unlimited number of participants. Teams can be made up of primary and secondary school children , grandparents, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, cousins, housemates, flatmates neighbours or friends who have worked together via conference calls or another digital communication platform, to create their entry.
Professionals as individuals or groups are invited to submit creative projects to be showcased. We welcome advertisement-free work with a connection to the “Home” theme.
We welcome students as individuals or groups, who are currently enrolled at universities both within the UK and internationally.
A jury, made up of an Architect, artist and university lecturer/school teacher will judge the entries after the submission deadline. We will announce the winner online and will award a winner per category based on creativity and originality.
