Introducing Birmingham Architectural Association Committee Member and Architect, Surika Carvalho.
Surika is an Architect with over 6 years’ experience within the Industry, working across all sectors but with specialised skills within the Education Sector. As an Architect, Surika has a great passion for design that celebrates the adaptive reuse of existing buildings and structures, with a belief that this type of place making within a Community can act as a catalyst for social change whilst encouraging people to engage with their physical environment.
As an active member of the BAA since its revival, Surika works with other committee members to bring awareness to and enhance, Women’s equality within the Architectural Industry. Surika’s main event, held annually around International Women’s Day, draws in a large and diverse crowd within the Construction Industry that aims to celebrate and acknowledge the great contributions women have made to Architecture within the Region.
